Sword Bonuses

Post by FXM » Mon Oct 10, 2011 7:04 pm

I've figured out the glowing of the enchanted sword with enemies near. It took me a while to catch on. Duh! But now I'm wondering if there are other powers as the level of enchantment gets higher. I'm playing on Legend mode, and am about to hit a +30 with my sword. Is there anything I should expect?

Great game! Trying to escape on Legendary before 2.0 is released...

Hmmm, while not related to exp. level, have you ever tried to drink one to many strength potions? Or using light spells to locate secret doors? That's all I can think of this early in the A.M.

I haven't tried the "too many strength potions." Maybe tonight! :) But yes, I have been using light spells for secret door location. What I meant to ask, was if a VERY charmed sword gained new powers. I remember Madgarden saying something about a +100 sword doing extra special things at one point. That may have just been about the damage done with each blow. I just wondered if there were landmarks along the way that gave other powers.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My best to you and Mad. Work hard, but do get enough sleep and personal play time. :)

Mmmm. Strength potions. *drooling*

The more the better. They're like 'roids, but with even less working out!

Get your sword amped up to somewhere between "Excalibur" and "Frikkin' Lightsaber," strap on your Lion's Claw, chug up some magiroids, and watch the biggest of baddies fall. 'Course, if you want to be a god, add some agility pots to the mix, but do it before you 'roid up. They make you kinda shtoopid.

Is this wasteful? Very. Is if fun, and worth doing at least once? Yes. Oh yes.

They are permanent and cumulative spells that you pick up along the way. They seem to be most often found in the clay pots found in hidden rooms, although occasionally they show up in chests or locked boxes. Look out for snakes in the pots, as they can temporarily blind you. You can also get a magical bonus for your sword periodically if you offer up your gold at a temple and happen to also have full health before you do it. You get both a shield-renewal and a sword bonus that way. It's only every few thousand gold, so you have to develope a feel for how long it's been since your last shield/sword bonus. With some care, it's not difficult to have a sword bonus that is greater than your character level.
